A Stable for Living

Modern Ranch House

Well Appointed Rambler

This ranch house seeks a strong connection to its rural setting on an expansive tract of vibrant landscape. The design is a modern reinterpretation of traditional homestead archetypes — House, Stable, and Barn. The House contains the main living spaces, the Stable contains the bedrooms, and the Barn hosts both the garage and studio. The three volumes are connected and finished with a rich material palette and large windows that blur the line between inside and out. This allows the natural context to be a defining influence on the daily lives of the inhabitants. Vaulted and raftered ceilings throughout fill the volumes with light. This light combines with the predominantly hardwood interior finishes to create an atmosphere filled with luminous warmth.
